Students from the Euromed University of Fez organized, under the supervision of the Alliance of Civilizations Chair (Chair created in partnership with the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations – United Nations), a study day on February 14, 2024 at seat of the Moroccan Parliament. This day, which was attended by students from more than twenty countries, had to address important and diverse subjects.

This unique meeting was organized on the sidelines of the Summit of Presidents of Parliaments and the 17th Session of Parliamentarians of the Union for the Mediterranean.

It constituted an excellent opportunity for these students allowing them to highlight Moroccan exceptionalism, particularly, what the Kingdom is doing, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, with a view to institutionalize at the highest level regional exchange and integration relationships driven by shared values.

In addition, the participation of these students in such an event gave them the opportunity to testify to the role of the Euromed University of Fez, and of the Moroccan university in general, in the training of their comrades from Africa and moreover, considered in this capacity as ambassadors of the Kingdom of Sherifian Morocco in their countries.

In this context, various areas of expertise were addressed, including transatlantic opening, energy ethics, sustainable development, the circular economy, green innovations and transport. Questions of the environment, territories, motility and mobility of goods and people, etc. were also addressed. which constitute the cement of co-development on the scale of Africa.

The aspect of major challenges was also at the center of the interventions as well as the exchanges, of which we can also note: climate change, the scarcity of resources such as drinking water, pollution, the growth of the human population or even the degradation of biodiversity. Environmental issues are not only varied, but also increasingly complex.

Furthermore, highlighting the ongoing paradigm shift towards industry 5.0 and involving human, economic and societal dimensions, the invention of programmatic, technological and algorithmic solutions was envisaged with consideration of scientific and technical progress. Contemporary problems linked to complex interactions and interfaces between natural, built, urban, peri-urban and interurban environments were also the subject of in-depth reflection by young students within the framework of a systemic vision.

The day took place in the form of plenary sessions and presentations. This was crowned by the formulation of several recommendations which were presented and adopted by the young students. They constituted the basis of the Call for the Future made by the students of Euromed University of Fez which will be read on February 16, 2024 during the 8th Summit of Speakers of Parliaments and the 17th Session of Parliamentarians of the Union for Mediterranean.

Following the opening session of this summit, Mr. Rachid Taleb Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives, welcomed the participants in the large plenary hall of the parliament and was kind enough to present to the students of Euromed University of Fez the functional model of the House of Representatives.
