It was in the beautiful city of Barcelona that the Université Euromed de Fès won the second prize for the African Initiative of the Year, for the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), on Monday, June 26, 2023; an award presented as part of the "Triple E Awards" competition by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU), based in Germany.
Before an audience of more than 110 world-renowned universities, present at the "La Salle Barcelona Campus," the venue for this important international event, the Université Euromed de Fès, which had already been announced among the 5 African finalists for this award, received this recognition for its project "An Eco-campus in respect of various SDG."
The Triple E Awards (Entrepreneurship and Engagement Excellence Awards in Higher Education) are a global recognition of the efforts made by universities in favor of entrepreneurship and engagement in higher education. It is the first award to focus specifically on different dimensions of the third mission of universities. Implemented on a regional scale, the Triple E Awards aim to foster change in universities and highlight their role in their communities and ecosystems. ACEEU is currently the only quality assurance body operating globally that focuses on recognizing engagement and entrepreneurship in higher education. It aims to pave the way for a new era for this sector by assessing, supporting, and energizing the potential of its institutions on their path to third mission excellence.
In the same vein, it should be recalled that the Université Euromed de Fès was also distinguished this year in the international "Times Higher Education Impact Rankings, 2023," rising to second place nationally and first in the Fez-Meknes region. For SDG 4 in particular, "Quality Education," it is in the global TOP 200, appears on the national podium for 10 out of the 17 SDGs, and in first place for 4 of them.
