Miscellaneous notices

The Night of Philosophers is being reinvented to become the Philosophy Meetings, held from November 7th to 12th in Fez, Marrakech, Casablanca, and Rabat.

This is an expanded event, organized by the French Institute of Morocco, which brings together leading Moroccan and French partners including the Academy of the Kingdom of Morocco, the Moroccan Ministry of National Education, Preschool and Sports, the Council of the Moroccan Community Abroad, the Arab World Institute, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie, the Higher Education Institution – HEM, Euromed University, and the Philosophy Department of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University.

For the first time, the Philosophy Meetings will take place not only in Rabat and Casablanca, but also in Marrakech and Fez, cities highly symbolic for Arab culture and thought, allowing the event to become more deeply rooted in Morocco.

This approach reflects a renewed ambition: to place these Philosophy Meetings in Morocco on the map of intellectual exchange between Europe and the African continent, to respond to the aspirations of an increasingly connected youth concerned with thinking about their future, and to become the crossroads of ideas from which to explore new paths of thought.

The Philosophy Meetings will also be an opportunity to highlight multiple collaborations, such as the creation of a doctoral school for critical thought in Fez, which will host around thirty doctoral students from public and private universities, and a training program dedicated to the method and practice of philosophy for Moroccan teachers in final-year high school and preparatory classes (Marrakech). Finally, a national philosophy essay competition, in Arabic and French, has also been launched for students in public schools and French educational institutions to promote critical thinking.
