Roundtable: The empirical realist school of law at the intersection of law and CSR

Conference cycle

The Euromed Institute of Legal and Political Sciences organized as part of its activities, a round table on the theme of “The empirical realist school of law at the intersection of law and CSR”, on Monday March 11, 2024 at the University's Eco-campus.

Led by Mr. Duma Martin, Professor at the Laval University of Quebec and moderated by Pr. Hasna Slamti, Teacher-researcher at the Euromed University of Fez, this round table focused on the main features of an approach empirical realist in the examination of labor law and, by translation, protective law. This method requires the collection of essential empirical data to answer legal questions, while taking into account the various protection objectives defined by the legislator.

Through this meeting, the participants highlighted four appropriate models of corporate social responsibility, which are the CSR of support, commitment, elucidation and opposition, which are located at the intersection of efficiency and effectiveness of state law, highlighting potential gaps in the effectiveness and enforcement of the law, as well as the limits of the legal and social responsibility of companies that retain the services of workers.

This event was an opportunity to introduce the notion of "consumocratic" law to the ISJP students present during the round table, a notion by which a critical mass of consumer-judges is called upon to exert an influence on the companies and their suppliers, through societal marketing.
