Conference cycle
The Euromed University of Fez had the honor of hosting, on Wednesday September 25, a conference moderated by Professor Muriel Fabre-Magnan under the theme "The institution of freedom".
This first meeting of the UEMF Conference Cycle promised to provide enriching perspectives on contemporary themes, bringing together students, teachers and legal professionals. This eminent professor of law at the University of Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, recognized for her contributions to legal philosophy, shared with the public profound reflections on the place of freedom in modern legal systems.
During his speech, Professor Fabre-Magnan traced the historical evolution of the notion of freedom through the Declarations of Human Rights, before analyzing how the European Convention on Human Rights frames the individual freedoms while imposing certain restrictions in the general interest. She then questioned the relationship between freedom and prohibition, showing that these two notions, far from being contradictory, can coexist in contemporary legal systems, where they help to define the limits of freedoms in a society governed by law.
The conference concluded with a rich interaction with the public. Students, teachers and legal professionals took the opportunity to ask questions, sparking a lively debate around the legal issues raised. The discussions made it possible to deepen reflections on the tensions between individual rights and collective responsibilities, thus offering participants a new perspective on current issues.
