[International Education Day] The Role of Digital for Inclusive Education

Conference cycle

On the occasion of International Education Day, the Women in Sciences: AI and Future chair and the Research Institute for European, Mediterranean and African Studies (RIEMAS), Think – Tank of the Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) , organized a Webinar entitled “The Role of Digital for Inclusive Education”.

An essential lever for transforming educational systems, inclusive education is an educational approach based on the promotion of diversity as an enriching element of the teaching and learning process. The latter aims to increase participation and reduce the exclusion of children in situations of marginalization or vulnerability by responding effectively to the needs of all learners and consequently, promoting human development, guaranteeing quality education, ensuring the schooling of girls and promoting lifelong learning opportunities.

Several exclusion factors still hinder access to quality inclusive education from early childhood. Gender, ethnic origin, disability, environment (urban or rural), mother tongue or even humanitarian crises and conflicts deprive many children of opportunities promoting their full development (World Development Report, 2018).

These trends require countries like Morocco to place human capital training, R&D and innovation among its development priorities, and to accelerate its upgrading in terms of technological infrastructure, to strengthen its competitiveness. and continue its development. (NMD)

This webinar therefore aims to highlight the contribution of digital technology in the development of an inclusive and equal education model, a key point which is in the sights of the Women in Science chair.

Led by Pr. Maha Gmira, Professor of AI at UEMF and Director of the Women in Sciences Chair, this webinar was attended by Ms. Ilham Laaziz, Director of the GENIE program, reporting to the supervisory ministry, Ms. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Director of the International Center for Artificial Intelligence of Morocco at the Mohammed VI Polytechnic University and Professor at the Sorbonne University, Mr. Nasser Kettani, Digital Expert and member of the APEBI office, and Mr. Amine Zarouk, President of APEBI.
