A look back at the “Students' Innov'Up” innovation Hackathon organized by the European Union, the European Investment Bank and the Euromed University of Fez

Workshops

This hackathon is part of the European Union's actions in favor of youth, in particular the “Men Chabab Qrab” communication campaign, launched by the European Union in 2023. Its objective is to encourage young students to undertake and innovate by developing entrepreneurial solutions linked to the environment and climate change.

The event on May 12, 2023 closes a four-week pre-hackathon period, which allowed 12 teams selected, from nearly 200 applications received, to benefit from a dense training program with trainers and coaches from entrepreneurship, mobilized to support them in the structuring and precision of their project idea around the theme of the environment and sustainable development.

This support accelerated with numerous additional sessions held during a hackathon bringing together the 12 teams, on May 11 and 12, 2023 at Euromed University in Fez. Four teams presented solutions in sustainable agriculture, three in the economy of water resources, two in waste management, one in sustainable mobility, one in the preservation of biodiversity and one in biomaterials.

The jury was composed of Ms. Patricia Llombart Cussac, Ambassador of the European Union to Morocco, Ms. Anna Barone, Head of Representation of the European Investment Bank in Morocco, Prof. Mostapha Bousmina, President of the Euromed University of Fez, Mr. Omar Tajmouati, President of the Fès-Meknes regional branch of the CGEM and Mr. Omar Amrani, Director of Innovation and Pedagogy at StartUp Station.
