EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell visits UEMF

Visits

High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and Vice-President of the European Commission, Josep Borrell, visits the UEMF for his second visit to the eco-campus. Welcomed by the President of the University, Prof. Mostapha Bousmina, and by UEMF students, Mr. Josep Borrell was accompanied by an EU delegation and Ms. Patricia Llombart Cussac, EU Ambassador in Morocco. This second visit by Mr. Borrell to the UEMF demonstrates his desire to maintain the UEMF-EU partnership but also to meet young people and interact with them face to face. He thus moderated a conference on Europe's strategic responsibility, particularly in the current geopolitical context.

Students from all disciplines, and particularly those from the Euromed Institute of Legal and Political Sciences, became more interested in the subject of this conference. The exchange focused on Morocco-EU cooperation but also on current international issues such as the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and the challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean region.

This meeting ended with a visit to the University’s “Research-Innovation” platform and incubator. Mr. Borrell expressed his admiration and encouragement for the efforts made to provide students/researchers with High-Tech equipment allowing them to participate in the revitalization of the region and set up innovative projects.

As a reminder, Mr. Josep Borrel visited the UEMF in June 2019, during the graduation ceremony, as guest of honor.
