An increasing number of young Moroccans believe that mastering English will give them access to a better education and increase their chances of obtaining a job abroad. French is less popular than before. To analyze this topic, Prof. Hicham Sebti and Prof. Hafsa El Bekri conducted research based on the views of first-year focus groups from a business school.
The groups were composed to reflect the diversity of students in terms of social background (students from the wealthiest classes and scholarship students) and mastery of the French and English languages (some students showing a particular affinity for one or the other of the two languages).
