WORKSHOP
Sustainability: Towards a new development paradigm in the Euro-Mediterranean area
Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, Morocco
Sustainable development has established itself as a new paradigm for States and organizations. The UN Sustainable Development Goals, the Paris Agreement and the various COPs have anchored in people's minds the need to transform production and consumption patterns by adopting more sustainable practices.
In the Euro-Mediterranean zone, Morocco is particularly involved in the challenge of climate change (organization of COP22, implementation of the mega-project of the Ouarzazate solar power plant, active policy of promoting renewable energies and national strategy fight against climate change in all its forms), as well as in the development of intense cooperation on this subject, particularly at the African level.
It is for this reason that the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fez, itself an eco-campus, took the initiative of organizing, in collaboration with the European Institute of the Mediterranean, a think tank strongly committed to sustainable development issues, a workshop in Fez on the theme of “Sustainability: Towards a new development paradigm in the Euro-Mediterranean area”.
In this context, various contributions linked to strategic approaches to sustainable development, energy transition, the circular economy, participatory approaches and the dynamics of climate change are able to enrich this theme.
