Migration, Mobility and Development
The RIEMAS “Workshop Series”
The Euromed University of Fez is organizing, in collaboration with EMNES (The Euro-Mediterranean Network for Economic Studies), a workshop on October 17, 2019, around the theme:
Migration, Mobility and Development
This Workshop will see the participation of several researchers, experts, diplomats, business leaders and other high-level specialists from Morocco and the Euro-Mediterranean region for a working session which promises to be rich in innovative and productive exchanges.
The objective of this workshop is to provide a new vision of the realities and the different parameters around a subject of increasing priority on the international agenda. Beyond the exchange that this meeting will allow, the objective of this workshop is to identify avenues for reflection on the possibilities of reconstructing co-development relations between the two shores of the Mediterranean in a different way.
“Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI , Morocco is one of the rare countries in the South to implement a global and multidimensional migration policy. In addition, Morocco is very active within the African Union, with a view to promoting a unified and balanced African position. The adoption of the Marrakech Global Compact on Migration in December 2018 is, in this regard, an important step at the level of the international community. In this context, the implementation of a global, concerted and balanced agenda on the themes of migration, mobility and development in the greater Europe-Mediterranean-Africa region is today more necessary than ever” indicated to on this subject the President of the UEMF, Mostapha Bousmina.
Oriented around four main themes, relating to the root causes of migration, the issue of gender and migration, migrants and job markets and finally the necessary deepening of cultural dialogue, this workshop aims to address the subject of different angles leading to new strategic and operational recommendations.
