University Council (CU)

The missions of the CU consist of:

  • promote and maintain a high intellectual, training and research level within the University in accordance with its mission;
  • propose the eligibility conditions for students, the teaching and research programs, the nature of the diplomas to be awarded and the conditions for obtaining diplomas;
  • award from the University budget scholarships, scholarships for Master's students, Doctoral students and Post-Doctoral students and prizes;
  • decide on the opening of training courses;
  • set registration fees and tuition fees;
  • propose to the CA to discern honorary diplomas and titles, in particular the honorary doctorate.  

 

On the recommendation of the diplomas committee, the President confers, to students who have satisfied the academic requirements in force, the Bachelor's, Engineering, Master's and Doctorate degrees, as well as any other diploma prepared within the University.

The diplomas referred to in the preceding paragraphs are signed jointly by the President of the University and the Dean of Faculty or the Director of the Establishment, Programs, Institute or Center concerned.

MEMBERS OF THE UNIVERSITY COUNCIL

The University Council is chaired by the President of the University. It is composed:

  • Vice-Presidents of the University;
  • the dean or director of each establishment and entity of the University;
  • three full professors from University establishments elected by their peers for a renewable three-year term;
  • a representative of the administrative and technical staff of each establishment of the University elected by their peers for a renewable three-year term;
  • a representative of the students from each study cycle of Bachelor, Master, Engineering and Doctorate for a non-renewable period of two years;
  • possibly, external members of the academic, socio-economic and political world. 

 

The President of the University may call upon, in an advisory capacity, any personality from the scientific world and the business world of national or international reputation in his field, whose presence he considers useful, to participate in the meetings of the said Council, in particular to questions relating to the main strategic axes in terms of teaching and research and development, reference partnerships for the University, and the introduction of the University into national and international networks of sectors relating to the Subject and /or to the University Missions.
