Among Hundreds of Candidates, the United Nations Chair for the Alliance of Civilizations at the Université Euromed de Fès Secures First Place Worldwide

On September 11, 2025, in Prague, the United Nations Chair for the Alliance of Civilizations at the Université Euromed de Fès received the Alliance University of the Year award during the «Triple E Awards 2025 », organized by the Accreditation Council for Entrepreneurial and Engaged Universities (ACEEU). This major international distinction, presented to the Chairholder, Prof. Abdelhak Azzouzi and the University's Director of Audit and Quality Assurance, Prof. Tayeb Ouazzani Chahdi, honors the only United Nations Chair in this field, at a time marked by tensions, fragilities, and global geopolitical instability.

As the first global recognition of the Third Mission of universities, this award highlights the Chair's role beyond teaching and research, in favor of otherness, intercultural dialogue, and development.

Unique in its kind in this field, the Chair offers a Master's in Conflict Management and Alliance of Civilizations as well as a doctoral program, both accredited by the Moroccan Ministry of Higher Education. It serves as both a space for scientific production and a venue for open debates for students from diverse backgrounds, as evidenced by the «Euro-Mediterranean and African Youth Encounters» (February 2024) at the Moroccan Parliament on the sidelines of the General Assembly of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM).

The Chair also constitutes a privileged meeting space, through conferences dedicated to the issues and challenges of the Euro-Mediterranean and African region. Held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, these events, which took place in December 2024 at the University, brought together numerous international personalities and approximately 1,600 students for debates and exchanges on the Alliance of Civilizations.

Through this recognition, the Chair fully aligns with Morocco's peaceful vision and the strategy of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), affirming its role as a leading academic and diplomatic actor in an unstable global context.
