Miscellaneous notices

The Euromed University of Fes has installed and put into operation a first 3D printing machine on the premises of the Fes technical high school. This machine is the result of a proprietary technology developed by one of its young startups and was entirely designed and manufactured in its laboratories. These high-tech machines are extremely efficient and competitive compared to international technologies.

This initiative taken by UEMF will be extended to the Moulay Driss high school in the coming days so that these two high schools can offer young students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with additive manufacturing technologies and, why not, start designing and creating innovative prototypes during their secondary studies.

Furthermore, as part of the "Youth and Science" week organized annually by the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, the University has developed an ambitious program to raise awareness and popularize science for young middle and high school students in the region. No fewer than 20 activities in the form of conferences, workshops, demonstrations and practical work, simulations, and visits to technological platforms are planned on the University campus and in high schools across the region.

The general theme chosen for this edition deals with fundamental sciences for sustainable development. However, due to the recent earthquake that struck the El Haouz region and the climate change phenomena our planet is experiencing, UEMF has expanded the theme to include earthquakes and natural disasters, and the precautions to take and behaviors to follow in the face of these phenomena. This significant event, in which the University participates annually, began on November 21st and will continue until December 1st.

The Euromed University of Fes also supported young students from a middle school in Moulay Yacoub to represent Morocco in the international First Lego League Challenge competition held in Houston, USA. This team was ranked second in the Robot Design category, among 110 participating teams from around the world. The support took the form of digital and English language training for the youth and their chaperones, and an introduction to additive manufacturing which allowed them to design and create the model presented in this competition. Additionally, the University contributed financially to their travel expenses to the USA.

All these actions, and many more to come, fall within the framework of the cooperation agreement concluded with the Regional Academy of Education and Training of Fes-Meknes. This agreement concretely translates the vision of Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, Minister of National Education, Preschool and Sports, who is also a member of the UEMF Board of Directors, aiming for an effective rapprochement between the national education sector and higher education.

This is also an opportunity to recall that last year, the Euromed University of Fes deployed similar 3D printers at universities in Côte d'Ivoire and is preparing to do the same in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, and Cape Verde.
