The Euromed University of Fes (UEMF) organized, on January 16, 2025, the launch ceremony for the activities of the Fez Smart Factory, Morocco's very first ecosystem entirely dedicated to Industry 4.0. Held under the theme: "What support for the emergence of an innovative and smart industry in Morocco?", this event brought together public and private partners around a major challenge: propelling Moroccan industry towards excellence.
Driven by a consortium led by UEMF and including key players such as the Fès-Meknès Regional Council, CGEM Fès-Meknès, and Alten Delivery Center, in partnership with the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Digital Development Agency (ADD), and UNIDO, the Fez Smart Factory aims to be a catalyst for industrial transformation. Its main mission is to support project holders, startups, and industrialists in developing smart factories and high value-added products, while supporting the transformation of existing industrial units through the integration of Industry 4.0 technologies.
Benefiting from a total investment of 111.3 million dirhams, including a major contribution of 63.67 million dirhams from the Sustainable Industrial Zones Fund (FONZID) under the auspices of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), this project embodies an innovative model of international and regional cooperation. Spanning 6.6 hectares at the heart of UEMF's eco-campus, the Fez Smart Factory houses an ultra-modern 9,000 m² building dedicated to various services, featuring a 4.0 Incubator and Accelerator, Engineering and R&D services for Industry 4.0, and an integrated Business Center and social services.
In addition to the state-of-the-art infrastructure already in place, a Pilot 4.0 Training Factory, the first of its kind in Morocco, is being developed as part of the project's second phase. This center will provide nearly one million hours of training in cutting-edge technologies, integrating artificial intelligence, 3D printing, robotics, and smart sensors. With the support of partners such as the German bank KfW and relevant ministries, this project redefines industry standards in Morocco, while strengthening synergies between academic research and industrial innovation. The Fez Smart Factory ecosystem embodies a concrete commitment to elevate Moroccan industry to new heights of competitiveness and sustainable innovation.
