24 November 2021

Since the signing of the agreement to establish the ICESCO Chair for Arts, Sciences, and Civilizations at the Université Euromed de Fès, the University has once again welcomed its partner ICESCO: the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for another meeting, this time centered around a conference on the theme: "The world facing uncertainty: what role for culture in rethinking the path towards the human?"

This conference is organized by UEMF and ICESCO in partnership with the German Konrad-Adenauer Foundation, active in more than 100 countries worldwide, including Morocco, where it supports youth and women as well as state and non-state institutions, political actors, and civil society to better define their actions and contribute to sustainable change. Through this event, the partners aim to highlight the vicissitudes the world is currently facing following the multiple repercussions of the health crisis on economic and social levels, as well as geopolitical, economic, and ideological divisions and tensions. In relation to this context, the goal is also to show that through the promotion of culture and its various levers, it is possible to rethink the future of our humanity beyond the troubled images the world currently knows. As André Malraux rightly said, culture is "what has made man something other than an accident of the universe." Given this approach, it is clear that culture is not merely a superfluous component in the current situation dominated by the digital and augmented human industry.
