Euromed University of Fes hosted the Moroccan Day of Mathematics, an initiative organized by the Maths&Maroc association dedicated to youth and scientific culture.

On Saturday, March 28, 2026, Euromed University of Fes hosted the Moroccan Day of Mathematics (MDM), an event organized by the Maths & Maroc association at Euromed University of Fes, under the patronage of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology and sponsored by Adria.

This event, bringing together academics, researchers, university students, middle school and high school students, and their parents, was part of a national drive to promote scientific culture and raise awareness among new generations about the central role of mathematics in contemporary transformations. Through a rich program combining lectures, interactive workshops, Maths Sprints, and educational spaces, the Moroccan Day of Mathematics (MDM) made mathematics accessible, lively, and concrete. The initiative thus helped deconstruct preconceived ideas about this discipline while sparking curiosity and interest among the young participants.

Speaking at the opening of the gathering, Omar Fassi Fihri, Permanent Secretary of the Hassan II Academy of Science and Technology, recalled the universal nature of mathematics and its structuring role in all human activities.

In this context, Professor Mostapha Bousmina, President of Euromed University of Fes, praised the initiative: "Organized by Maths & Maroc and hosted by Euromed University of Fes, this event was designed first and foremost for young people, to show them that mathematics is not just an academic discipline, but a true lever for understanding the world and for innovation. Through this initiative, we aim to place the sciences back at the heart of the new generation's ambitions." To this end, President Mostapha Bousmina warmly thanked the President of Maths & Maroc, Mr. Mohammed Ali Benchekroun, as well as all the members of this association for the excellent work carried out in organizing the Moroccan Day of Mathematics at Euromed University of Fes.

Prof. Mostapha Bousmina also delivered the inaugural lecture on the theme "the role of mathematics in science and technology," which demonstrates the importance of this discipline in scientific and technological advances. Beyond its educational dimension, this day served as a reminder of the strategic role of mathematics in key fields such as artificial intelligence, modeling, and data analysis, in connection with issues of competitiveness and scientific sovereignty.

Finally, the winners of the competitions organized as part of this event will receive distinctions, including grants and excellence scholarships of up to 100%, offered by Euromed University of Fes.
