“The mausoleum of Georgi Dimitrov as a place of memory” with Pr. Maria Todorova

As part of the conference cycle organized by the Euromed University of Fez, Maria Todorova, renowned historian and eminent professor at the American University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, captivated the audience this Wednesday, December 20 by addressing the theme "Blowing up the Past: The mausoleum of Georgi Dimitrov as a place of memory".

During her presentation, Ms. Todorova took an in-depth look at the Mausoleum of Georgi Dimitrov as an iconic place of memory, focusing on its role in the construction and deconstruction of Bulgarian national identity. She also analyzed the different representations of the past conveyed by this historical symbol and their impact on collective consciousness.

This conference was an opportunity for reflection and intellectual exchange, allowing students to deepen their understanding of collective memory, its issues and its influence on the construction of history and national identities.
