LafargeHolcim-UEMF conference under the sign of a lasting partnership

The Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) and the LafargHolcim Maroc group organized a conference day on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 under the theme:
“Research and training in intelligent and sustainable construction”.


A large delegation made up of senior executives from LafargeHolcim Maroc traveled to the UEMF campus to host this conference day. Representatives of the Moroccan subsidiary of the international cement group were welcomed by Professor Mostapha BOUSMINA, President of the Euromed University of Fez.

In his opening speech, the President of the UEMF called for strengthening the partnership between the University and LafargeHolcim Morocco. Indeed, this scientific event constitutes the first action to implement the Partnership Convention recently signed by the two parties.

Under this Agreement, LafargeHolcim Maroc will support the UEMF to provide a practical complement to its teaching for the Civil Engineering and Architecture sectors as well as other sectors of interest to both parties. The support that LafargeHolcim Morocco will provide in the training course in the aforementioned sectors will focus, in particular, on three components:

A general component consisting of specific interventions by LafargeHolcim Morocco to lead seminars, specific courses and visits for the benefit of engineering students;

A section for supervising end-of-study projects and internships based on defined subjects;

A component of expertise and collaboration for research, development and innovation projects.

A partnership component in Research and Development in the field of Civil Engineering to develop innovative solutions

The Agreement also provides for proposals for continuing education and internship projects by both parties.

For his part, Mr. Mostapha Hebbassi, Marketing Director of LafargeHolcim Morocco explained during his speech that this partnership is the expression of a real strategy of opening the cement group to the academic world. The conference day was in fact an opportunity for the numerous public to learn about the activities of LafargeHolcim Maroc, the Euromed School of Civil Engineering recently set up by the University and the prospects for exchange and collaboration with the UEMF. The interventions of the members of the group's delegation focused on various subjects of scientific interest: thermal insulation in buildings, cement, concrete and normative framework, Smart Construction Lab and innovation, etc.

At the end of this day, university officials invited their guests to a guided tour of the University's research laboratories and its Eco-campus.
