Multiculturalism within the UEMF: Appointment of Pakistani Professor Saif Ur Rehman

Prof. Saif Ur Rehman has joined the academic team at Euromed University of Fez, bringing with him extensive experience and recognized expertise in the field of physics, particularly in nanoscience and nanotechnology.

Prof. Saif Ur Rehman has held the position of Associate Professor in the physics department of COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore campus, since 2014. He obtained his PhD in physics, specializing in nano-optics and nanotechnology, from the Mohammed V University of Rabat, in collaboration with the Moroccan Foundation for Advanced Sciences, Innovation and Research (MAScIR) in 2013. During his doctorate, he conducted research at the iNANOTECH-MAScIR research institute, a reference center in the field of nanosciences and nanotechnologies in Morocco.

Prior to his PhD, Mr. Rehman obtained a DEA in Applied Physics and an M.Sc. in Physics from the Department of Physics, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 2007 and 2004 respectively.

With nearly fifteen years of experience in multidisciplinary research in nanomaterials and nanotechnology, nano-optics and thin films, photovoltaics, surface plasmon resonance spectroscopy (SPR), biosensing, ultrafast laser nanofabrication, and the synthesis and characterization of nanostructured materials, Saif Ur Rehman is a valuable asset to our institution. He also has considerable expertise in the installation and use of high-tech instruments such as PVD, SEM, TEM, XRD and AFM.

Throughout his scientific career, Saif Ur Rehman has collaborated with several renowned laboratories and institutes, including Advanced Physics Lab at UET, Lahore, Nanobiotech Lab at NIBGE, Faisalabad, iThemba LABS in Cape Town, CSIR Labs in Pretoria in South Africa, the MASCIR Nano-Optics Lab in Morocco and JEOL Ltd in Tokyo, Japan.

We are convinced that his arrival at EPS will stimulate research and teaching initiatives within our physics department and will contribute significantly to our mission of academic excellence and scientific innovation.
