Pr. Ahmed KOUTOUS leads a conference on earthquake-resistant construction using local materials.

As part of its lecture series, Euromed University of Fes organized a conference on the theme: "Seismic-resistant construction using local materials: current situation and diagnosis of constructions impacted by the High Atlas earthquake". This conference was dedicated to civil engineering students at Euromed Polytechnic School (EPS), and was held at the UEMF Eco-campus on November 29.

Prof. Ahmed KOUTOUS, a Doctor Engineer in civil engineering and an eminent specialist in the field, led this conference by highlighting the methodology and process of diagnosis, which are crucial elements in the evaluation of structures to strengthen seismic-resistant construction. Prof. KOUTOUS also raised the challenges posed by the seismic conditions of the High Atlas region through an overview and emphasized the importance of adopting innovative approaches to strengthen existing structures and design new resilient constructions.

This conference thus served as a catalyst for future initiatives aimed at enhancing the safety of structures against seismic risks in areas prone to seismic movements in our country, intended to inspire future civil engineers.
