Pr. Mostapha Bousmina, President of Euromed University of Fes (UEMF), and Dr. Enrique Luis Graue Wiechers, Rector of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), have concluded a partnership agreement aimed at strengthening ties between the two universities in the areas of education, research & innovation, knowledge transfer, and student mobility. Both partners are indeed convinced of the importance of combining expertise and fostering cultural convergence to prepare future leaders imbued with the values of openness and inclusion, and aware of their duties, rights, and role in society.
With a rich historical past dating back to 1551, the year of the initial founding of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, it now brings together over 360,000 students from around the world and ranks first among universities in Spain, Portugal, and Latin America. Furthermore, UNAM has educated influential figures in the worlds of politics, literature and philosophy, science, and engineering, including Nobel Prize winners. Beyond teaching, UNAM actively participates in cultural projects and has its own science museum, university museum of contemporary art, Olympic stadium, botanical garden, concert hall, and a very active university city that has received the UNESCO World Heritage designation for its humanistic and artistic contributions.
By partnering with UEMF, which also works to strengthen the multicultural dimension, sharing and inclusion, research and innovation through concrete actions such as experiential learning (learning by doing), project-based pedagogy, and flipped classrooms, the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México intends to collaborate in developing the autonomy and fulfillment of the entire student community. This meeting was also an opportunity for fruitful exchange between UNAM representatives and members of the UEMF community. Opportunities for imminent mobility, intended for Master's and Doctoral students, were discussed during the Q&A session.
