Kick-off of the 1st edition of the ArtiSign Academic Biennale in the historic site of Lalla Yeddouna

The School of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning (EMADU) of the Euromed University of Fez kicks off the 1st edition of the ArtiSign Academic Biennale. An event which takes place in the heart of the medina of Fez, a UNESCO world heritage site, from Thursday June 23 to Sunday June 26, mainly on the historic site of Lalla Yedouna.

The ArtiSign academic biennial is an academic, inclusive, eclectic and international event involving internationally renowned artisans, designers, students, academics and professionals, with the aim of creating new synergy with a holistic vision combining the world of Crafts with that of Design while celebrating the diversity of learning models.

This unifying event is part of the Royal vision to promote the tangible and intangible heritage of the city of Fez, promote our ancestral know-how by making it one of our socio-economic levers and bring the academic world closer to the world of crafts. to innovate and internationalize Moroccan knowledge and know-how and made in Morocco.

To do this, a tripartite agreement initiated by the Wilaya of Fez-Meknes was signed between the UEMF, ADER-Fez and the Fez-Meknes Chamber of Crafts as part of the Medina requalification and rehabilitation program. of Fez aimed at promoting ancestral knowledge and know-how as well as the promotion of Moroccan artisanal heritage and the revitalization of traditional trades.

This biennial is also the fruit of the participation and close collaboration of artisans from the Lalla Yeddouna Federation of Craft Trades.

In preparation for more than a year, the ArtiSign academic biennial has the involvement of EMADU's privileged partners: the DIA-UNIFI School of Architecture and Design in Florence, the National School of Decorative Arts in Paris- ENSAD-, the Portuguese University of Evora, the Aga Khan Trust for Culture of Switzerland, the Polish Academy of Design Sztukai W Szczecinie, the Kan Ya Makan Association, the CFQMA Center for Training and Qualification for Careers in the 'Artisanat de Fez, the French Institute of Fez, the Federation of Artisans of Lalla Yeddouna and internationally renowned Designers, among others.
