Association between the Euromed University of Fez and AFD for the creation of the regional innovation center in AGRITECH

Agreements and partnerships

The French Development Agency (AFD) and the Euromed University of Fez (UEMF) announced on July 16, 2020 a financing agreement for the design and establishment of the AgriTech Cluster in the Fez region. Meknes Este is a project without precedents in Marruecos and consists of the structuring of the regional polo of innovation and entrepreneurship in the sector of agriculture and agroindustry. To this end, AFD provided UEMF with a subsidy of 16.3 million dirhams (1.5 million euros) intended for the design and implementation of this project within its Eco-campus. In the Fes-Meknes region, this pilot project aims to support upward movement in the agroindustrial sector. This technical financial assistance varies between capacity creation activities, through the support of entrepreneurs, the promotion of research and development and the adaptation of local agricultural technology to international standards. The ambition of the Fes-Meknes region is to see the emergence of the agroindustrial cluster driven by entrepreneurial spirit and the digitalization of the economy.
