THE International Ranking of the Best Universities in the World: UEMF comes out among eight other Moroccan universities

The 2022 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings have just been released. THE ranking is based on a multidimensional analysis of higher education institutions through the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals measured by Thomson Reuters and Elsevier. It should be noted that recently created universities such as the Euromed University of Fez or the International University of Rabat are better ranked than other major national universities.

It is a global ranking, by subject and by reputation, and it also gives regional and national rankings.  Together with the Shanghai and QS rankings, THE is one of the most influential university rankings in the world.

The 2022 ranking involved universities from 106 countries. Eight Moroccan universities are ranked this year among the top 1,000 universities in this ranking at the global level. At the national level, the ranking of universities is as follow : 

 

  • 1st: Ibn Tofail University of Kenitra
  • 2nd: International University of Rabat
  • 3rd: Mohammed V University of Rabat
  • 4th: Euromed University of Fez
  • 5th : Hassan II University of Casablanca
  • 6th : Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University
  • 7th : Abdelmalek Essaâdi University of Tétouan-Tanger
  • 8th: Hassan I University of Settat

 

At the African level, Egypt has 36 universities in this ranking, followed by Nigeria with nine universities, Morocco and South Africa with eight universities each, Ghana with six universities, Tunisia and Algeria with five universities each. Sudan, Tanzania and Zambia have one university each in THE 2022 ranking.
